March 1 - May 8, 2011 The Mirror of the Soul. Feeling of Nature in Danish Art 1840-2010


A spell-binding exhibition about the feeling of nature in Danish art 1840-2010. 111 works of art by 27 artists e.g. Johan Thomas Lundbye (1818-48), Vilhelm Hammerhøi (1864-1916), Thorvald Bindesbøll (1846-1908), Jens Søndergaard (1895-1957), Oluf Høst (1884-1966), Asger Jorn (1914-73), Hein Heinsen (b. 1935), John Olsen (b. 1938) and Per Kirkeby (b. 1938).
In connection with the exhibition the museum has published a book (136 p. and richly illustrated) in Danish with text by the Art Historian, Mikael Wivel (PhD). 

The text relates the Danish tradition to the Northern Romantic tradition.
